Crutch Clutch

Crutch Clutch is a low-cost, rear-mounted wheelchair attachment designed to make transitioning between a wheelchair and crutches safer, easier, and more independent. Created for our client, Sami Chen, who lives with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), the project addresses the lack of secure and accessible storage for mobility aids. Through user interviews, prototyping, CAD modeling, 3D printing, and usability testing, we developed an open-source solution that securely holds crutches without increasing wheelchair width. The Crutch Clutch emphasizes safety, accessibility, affordability, and modularity, demonstrating a user-centered and iterative design approach to improving daily mobility and independence.
